Beauty on the Backroads

Stories of grace for life's unexpected turns

The work

If you like what you see on the blog and find yourself in need of a writer or editor now or in the future, would you consider hiring me or passing along my name to your friends? I offer a variety of writing and editing services including the following:

Website content

Whether you need bios, history, about me pages, or product descriptions, I can help create fresh content for your company or personal website. Check out some of my website content work here and here.

Newsletter design

Drawing from my experience with newspaper layout, I can help you design an attractive newsletter to send to your subscribers. I have experience with MailChimp. Click here for one example of a newsletter I’ve designed and sent.

Co-writing

Do you have a family story you want preserved for future generations? Has your business been around for decades and your customers would be interested in its history? Are you motivated to tell your life story but need some assistance getting the words where they need to be? We can work together to make your story into a self-published book you can hold in your hands.

You can find my latest project on Amazon, Shackled By Grace, a book I co-wrote about a woman’s decision to stay married after her husband was arrested, convicted and sentenced to prison.

I can work with a variety of budgets, but I do take a limited number of projects. Fill out the form below or send me an email if you’re interested in this service!

Editing

If your work needs another set of eyes, I can give it varying levels of attention: from proofreading and copy editing to basic content editing. I have almost a decade of experience as a copy editor for local newspapers, with a sharp eye for typos, misspellings and grammatical mistakes. As an avid reader, I can recognize content inconsistencies and the need for further details.

I am a member of American Christian Fiction Writers.

If you’d like to talk further about any of these services, please fill out the form below so we can start the conversation!

Website Design

While I don’t personally offer this service, I can recommend the work of Alison McLennan at McLennan Creative. She designed this site and can help you with your website and blog design. Please contact her for further information.

Welcome

Hi. I’m Lisa, and I’m glad you’re here. If we were meeting in real life, I’d offer you something to eat or drink while we sat on the porch letting the conversation wander as it does. That’s a little bit what this space is like. We talk about books and family and travel and food and running, whatever I might encounter in world. I’m looking for the beauty in the midst of it all, even the tough stuff. (You’ll find a lot of that here, too.) Thanks for stopping by. Stay as long as you like.
